Puerto del Carmen

Puerto del Carmen is the main tourist area of the island of Lanzarote. It is part of the municipality of Tias, and extends over about 7km of coastline, where there are at least 3 beaches and hotels for up to 30,000 people.

Since the opening of the Fariones Hotel in 1966, Puerto del Carmen attracts tourists from all over Europe such as Spain, Ireland, the United Kingdom, Germany and Scandinavia. “Avenida de las Playas” contains many restaurants, shops, bars and casinos. From the coast, Puerto del Carmen has spread inland to a distance of about one kilometer. At the western end of Puerto del Carmen is the old town, where the Port of Tinosa is located.
