Volcano and Malpais de La Corona

The Volcano of the Crown is a large volcanic cone located north of the island, in the town of Haria. The lava that came from it forms the Volcano and Malpais de La CoronaMalpais de La Corona. Given their relative seniority, of about 21,000 years, this space, contrary to what happened in the lava fields of Timanfaya, has been colonized by many species of plants, including the sweet tabaiba and verodes.

Beneath the Monumento Natural del Malpais de La Corona, an extensive volcanic pipe, of more than 6 kilometers long, stretches from the volcanic cone into the sea. Deep into the sea it forms an underwater tunnel half a mile long called Atlantis. Two sections of this are set up as galleries and are empowered as tourist sights. They are the Cueva de los Verdes and Jameos del Agua.
